Ongoing  Work With The Dane-Zaa First Nation:
For the past twenty-seven years, Jillian Ridington has been collaborating with Robin Ridington to document the culture of the Dane-zaa First Nation.  This work has resulted in two video documentaries, (one completed and one in production), and in many produced audio pieces.  It has also resulted in a large audio archive, thousands of photographs, and numerous written publications.  More recent work includes scanning a selection of images from the Ridingtons’ large collection of historic photos, and other sources; these images are now available to the Dane-zaa First Nations.  Jillian has also completed work on an extensive genealogy of the Doig River Dane-zaa.  This involved extensive archival research, community interviews and corroboration, data input and consultation with other members of the genealogical team.  This work is now available to the Doig River Dane-zaa First Nation.

Video Documentaries: Resource person, archival consultant, co-editor, interviewer.
2004:  Otter Man’s Story. 30 minute video.  (With Robin Ridington).  Based on Jillian Ridington’s interview with Dane-zaa elder May Apsassin, Otter Man’s story tells about communication between Dane-zaa prophets and how their prophecies affect the lives of Dane-zaa people.

2001: Contact the People 50 minute video.  (With Robin Ridington, Stacy Shaak, and Chief Garry Oker)  Through archival photos and audio, interwoven with recent video footage, Contact the People documents the dramatic changes that have occurred to the Dane-zaa people in the past half century.

In production: They Dream About Everything ( With Robin Ridington, Stacy Shaak, and Chief Garry Oker)   This video documentary, for which the Doig River First Nation received a Canada Council Grant, examines the role of prophets and story telling among the Dane-zaa.  It combines material from the Ridington’s archive with recent interviews the Ridingtons engaged in with elders of the Dane-za community.  A draft version of this documentary was shown by Robin and Jillian Ridington at the Conference on Hunting and Gathering Societies in Edinburgh in September, 2002.
